Raw Pinipig

Tropics brand of raw pinipig

Pinipig is sometimes translated as “rice crispies” in English. They’re more accurately young rice grans that have been pounded flat into flakes.

The label does not say “Raw Pinipig” but the supplier says that’s what it is. The French on the packaging says: Plier Jeune Riz.

Also, the pack has “Keep Frozen” on the label, but we received this at room temperature. It seems ok. You probably have to toast or nuke them to get the desired crispiness.

What to use pinipig for?

These flat rice flakes are often used as a topping of or an ingredient in sweet treats.

We do have the more Philippine-looking green pinipig… however, they’re sourced from Thailand! This one above is from the Philippines.
