McCORMICK Pandan Flavor Extract
Use in cakes and cake frosting!
Should be a green color because the pandan plant’s leaves are… well, green.
So… what is pandan?
It’s a tropical plant that’s also called “screwpine” in English. In fact, you’ll frequently see the phrase “screwpine leaves” as translation for pandan leaves.
McCormick is a trusted brand in the Philippines and elsewhere when it comes to flavor extracts, but honestly though in the case of this particular product, you can find better alternatives made by our neighboring countries. In particular, Thailand has a well-developed food manufacturing industry, and many of our food items are simply made better over there — not exactly the same of course, but it’s worth exploring what they have to offer as well. Vietnam is also rising in the food industry, and you can find many familiar-looking products made by them on American store shelves. Indonesia and Malaysia have overtake the P.I. in terms of coconut products. Perhaps, with competition from other Southeast Asia companies, the Philippines can be compelled to step up its game as well.
