Ampao is usually round with a glaze of brown sugar, though it also can be flat and/or rectangular, and have a plain white color.
As a side note, the word ampao/ampaw can separately also refer to the “hongbao” / “ang-pao” that are the red Chinese envelopes given out during the holidays, particularly the solar and lunar new year season.
